"Muckish on a Fine Day"

8 x 8 inch oil painting on a canvas board. 11.5 x 11.5 inches in size including outer frame. When I consider the beautiful landscape of Donegal I try to embody the many layers of a scene, heather, bog, marsh, grass. There are many living organisms in the vast ecosystem, topped with the majestic Muckish Mountain. Walkers and hikers to this area know that it is a great climb, that the area is very boggy at the base of the peek. These layers and even to think of whats underneath, as well as whats above, the ever changing skies, are forefront in my mind as I paint. I do like to think of the many weather elements I have enjoyed and endured in this region and try to translate that emotion into each painting. There are many faces of Muckish and the changing seasons and elements give me much motivation to never tire of translating this invigorating beauty.
